We collect almost nothing. Here's the full picture - in plain English - of what goes in and what stays out.
We never ask for your email address to access the Site.
We don't create or store user accounts, profiles, or identities.
We will never sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party.
Payment data is handled by Stripe - governed by their own privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure page traffic. No personal data is collected by us via this tool.
Blackbox-Audio ("we", "us", "the Site") is a premium music industry knowledge platform. We are committed to operating with the absolute minimum data footprint necessary to deliver the service. Privacy by design is not a marketing phrase for us - it is a structural decision.
We collect the following, and only the following:
We explicitly do not collect, store, or process:
All subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you click "Subscribe," you are directed to Stripe's payment flow. The information you provide during checkout - including your name, email, and payment details - is collected and governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy, not ours.
We receive from Stripe only: a confirmation that a successful subscription exists, and the associated Session ID. We do not receive, access, or store your card number, bank details, or billing address.
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. GA4 collects anonymised data including pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region (country/city level). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
GA4 operates via a JavaScript tag loaded on each page. It may set its own cookies (prefixed _ga) in your browser to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of GA4 tracking at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We do not use GA4 data for advertising, remarketing, or any purpose beyond understanding aggregate site traffic.
We use a single functional cookie to maintain your unlocked access state. This cookie stores a session token set after you click a valid magic link. This cookie:
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or Meta Pixel. See Section 5 for details on our use of Google Analytics.
Like all web servers, ours automatically logs basic request data including IP addresses, the pages requested, timestamps, browser type, and referring URL. These logs are used solely for server security monitoring, debugging, and abuse prevention. They are not shared with third parties and are not used to build user profiles. Log retention periods are determined by our hosting provider's standard practices.
The Site contains links to third-party websites, including ShareMyMusic.org, Stripe, and external resources. Once you leave Blackbox-Audio, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the Site and its infrastructure. All traffic between your browser and the Site is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Because we collect so little data, the attack surface for a data breach affecting your personal information is extremely limited - there is very little here to breach.
That said, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of any security vulnerability on the Site, please contact us immediately.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. Because we collect so little, in practice there is almost nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have a specific request, contact us and we will respond promptly.
For data held by Stripe (billing details, transaction history), please contact Stripe directly or use the Stripe billing portal.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
Privacy questions or data requests? Contact us via the information listed on the Site. We take privacy seriously and will respond to all legitimate inquiries.
